SPROUTMAN: You make such an amazing product from certified organic
wheatgrass, why oh why do you continue to use parabens and other chemicals
commonly found in more conventional skin products?
DR. WHEATGRASS: It is not easy to
produce stable creams at a reasonable price using “natural” preservatives.
There are many around, but the shelf life is too short to make our production
runs viable. By far the majority of our customers purchase our products for
health or medical reasons. They use them because they work. Very rarely do they
complain about the ingredients. They just want help I understand your
position in all this and your passion for 100% organic. But we have to make
practical decisions regarding price, product stability, etc.. In the meantime,
we are working on a new natural preservative for the Cream and Super Balm, but
it’s expensive and it will take some time for its testing.
